It's a handsome Colonial-style home in the quiet north side of Sayulita, just a six-minute walk from the life and color of the plaza. We're on the main beach road, one block away from the ocean, on the tranquil side. (Sayulita's main beach can be crowded in high season.) We are a two-story house inside a secure, corner compound enclosed by a big hacienda-type wall. The first thing you see upon entering our imposing wrought-iron gates are two tall flower-bedecked arches, one of which cascades water into our 30-by-15 pool. There is an enticing poolside cabana with its own bathroom, sink, mini-fridge and barbecue, and through the arch is a 'mini-secret garden' behind lush foliage, with a seating area and a fountain.
On the ground floor, we have 2 beautifully-appointed bedrooms (queen-size beds with custom-carved head boards) each with a private bathrooms decorated in hand-made talavera tiles, and a full kitchen with breakfast bar. The living / dining great room is open to the garden and pool area, which glows at night from the lanterns along the hacienda wall. There is also an inside den that can be closed off when it's cool for DVD-watching and sofa-loafing, or air-conditioned when it's warm. (The den has a comfy inflatable queen-sized platform bed for extra guests.) Our dishes and glassware are Colonial Mexican, the doors and windows are of handsome parota wood, and we've decorated the house with handicrafts from our trips to the villages surrounding Patzcuaro. Upstairs is a self-contained apartment with 1 queen-size bedroom and 1 small bedroom with a sink. (There's room for a convertible double bed--or can squeeze in a queen) with a sink. The two bedrooms share a full bath. Plus a living room, kitchen and nice small terrace where you can watch the life of the village and the garden below you.
We also have a spiral staircase to a large wood-beamed viewing pavilion and a seating area where you can take in the sea breezes. You'll have a view of the village and surrounding mountain and jungle. It's surrounded by high wrought-iron railings and lanterns. Other amenities: laundry room w/ washer-dryer, purified water system in the kitchens, bed linens, bath and pool/beach towels provided. Midweek cleaning and change of linens & towels. There's a restaurant-trained cook/chef we like nearby available for home-cooked meals.

" We are repeat guests to Casa Gala, love the villa, the location and is the nicest family villa in town. Walk to town is easy and convenient. We love the aqueduct/fountain and the secret garden. The bedrooms are beautifully appointed with comfortable beds and Mexican decor. This is one of the most tasteful and beautiful villas in Sayulita.
Will come back again and again…

" We arrived back in Canada, to a full on winter of snow and cold weather !
It made our time in Sayulita even more special. Many thanks for all your care and attention. We thoroughly enjoyed Casa Gala, and the grandchildren loved the pool. Sayulita is a great town, with very friendly people, great shops and beaches. We will be back again one day.
